Biography

Dr Khoza is a seasoned executive, acknowledged strategist and development activist in the infrastructure development space. She is the Executive Chairperson of the Bigen Group – A proudly South African infrastructure development company that operates on the African continent.

In 2014 Dr Khoza was awarded the Lifetime Achiever’s Award in the Manufacturing and Engineering Sector and as one of Africa’s Most Influential Women. In 2015 awarded the Top Performing Business Leader Award in South Africa. 2016 she was recognized by Women For Africa Awards a London-based organization for being one of the most influential women on the African continent. In 2017, she was recognized by the Standard Bank’s Top-Women Awards for her leadership in Bigen Group – receiving the Top Gender Empowered Infrastructure Development Award. This year in 2018, she received a Lifetime Achievement in Engineering from SA Professional Services Awards [SAPSA] sponsored by Sanlam.

During her tenure [2010-2016] as CEO of Bigen Group, the company won over 30 business awards on engineering and advisory service in infrastructure development on the continent and in particular in South Africa. In 2018, Bigen won the Infrastructure Development Company of the year from SAPSA alongside Dr Khoza’s Lifetime Achievers award. She is respected for her passion in doing good while doing business thus improving the quality of life of people through infrastructure that provides water, sanitation, housing, transportation, energy and health, thus for e.g. create jobs, reduce poverty, increase health and education for society.

Before Bigen, Dr Khoza was Group Executive at the Development Bank of Southern Africa.  She was appointed by various ministers e.g. Water, Housing, and Trade & Industry to chair the Boards of e.g. Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA); the Water Research Commission (WRC); and a Distribution Agency of the National Lotteries Council. Dr Khoza also chaired the Centre for Social Development in Africa (University of Johannesburg); Women’s Development Bank (WDB) Trust; Bihati Solutions (Pty) Ltd; She also served as a board member of the National Housing Financing Corporation (NHFC); FAMSA; Freights Dynamics (Transnet); StatsSA; and Ministerial advisory boards of the then National Housing [now Human Settlement] as well as Water and Environmental Affairs [now Water and Sanitation].

Currently Dr Khoza serves at the Water Institute Advisory Board of University of Pretoria. She is also an independent non-executive director at ANSYS and is also the president of Agape Christian Women’s Network (ACWN). ACWN is a not-for-profit organization supporting families in various challenges that they are facing in various areas of their lives thus providing shelter, creating job opportunities and reducing poverty to disadvantaged communities. Dr Khoza is a development activist – available to serve the country at any capacity where she can add value particularly in infrastructure development space.
