25th Annual OICM-FIDIC-GAMA 2018 Conference: Mali in the spotlight from 06 to 09 May 2018
Engineers around the world have trusted Mali and Bamako will host the 25th Annual International Conference of the Order of Consulting Engineers of Mali and the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (OICM-FIDIC-GAMA). During four days, the reflection will be conducted around the central theme: “Align the role of Consulting Engineers to the vision of infrastructure development in Africa”.
The launching ceremony for the activities of the said conference was held on Monday, September 11th at the Hotel de l’Amitié under the chairmanship of the Minister of Equipment and Disenclavement, Traoré Seynabou Diop who had at her side the President of the OICM, Mrs. Diallo Marie Traoré, former President of the OICM and initiator of the 25th edition, Mr. Boubacar Sissao. To raise the profile of the event, several members of the government and delegations of some member countries were also at the rendezvous.
The IMCW-FIDIC-GAMA 2018 Annual International Conference will be a privileged forum for public and private sector engineers to meet and discuss issues of continental interest in engineering. It is reassuring that the recommendations from this meeting will help African policymakers and engineers in the implementation of their development strategies.
In her welcoming address, the IOMC President gave a brief presentation of her structure, which now has 194 members, a ratio of 0.3 for a municipality, who practice in the fields of civil engineering, rural engineering, industrial engineering, education, real estate expertise with 1350 direct jobs and 7000 indirect jobs.
The first of its kind in a francophone country in sub-Saharan Africa, more than 400 participants from 194 countries around the world are expected to attend this conference of the Order of Consulting Engineers of Mali and the International Federation of Consulting Engineers. Enough to fill the enthusiasm of the Minister in charge of Equipment who will note that the event honors above all Mali. According to her, the success of this important event will be of benefit not only to consulting engineers, but also to other professional building orders. The Minister of the Equipment and the Opening up seized the occasion to send its warm congratulations to the OICM for the choice carried out on Mali for the organization of this intercontinental conference of the engineering. She urged the organizing committee and all members of the OICM to anticipate, rigor and professionalism for the success of the event. She also made a strong appeal to the various sectoral departments, as well as to all the partners in favor of her support.
